Implementation planning
NetSuite go-live readiness checklist
A strong NetSuite go-live is rarely about one final technical task. It depends on whether the business process, data, reporting, roles, testing, and support model are ready for real users.
1. Core process readiness
Confirm that finance, purchasing, order management, approvals, billing, fulfilment, and month-end activities can be completed in the agreed way. Any workaround that needs daily explanation should be reviewed before launch.
2. Data migration and opening balances
Check that customers, vendors, items, chart of accounts, open transactions, opening balances, and key historical references have been loaded, reconciled, and signed off by the people who will rely on them.
3. Roles, permissions, and forms
Users should only see the actions and records they need, but they must still be able to complete their job. Test roles with real user scenarios, not only administrator access.
4. Reporting and dashboard trust
Saved searches, dashboards, KPIs, and management reports should match business definitions. If finance and operations disagree on what a report means, fix the definition before go-live.
5. Testing evidence
Testing should prove that users can complete normal work and common exceptions. Keep a visible list of open defects, ownership, severity, and whether each item blocks launch or belongs in the post-go-live backlog.
6. Training and handover
Users need simple process notes, clear escalation routes, and confidence in the first week. Training should focus on real tasks: creating transactions, approving work, checking reports, and resolving exceptions.
7. Post-launch support
Agree who will answer questions, triage issues, fix configuration, and prioritise improvements after launch. A calm support plan protects the first month and stops every small issue becoming a project crisis.
When to ask for help
If testing is unclear, reports are not trusted, data issues keep returning, or go-live keeps moving without a clear reason, an independent NetSuite readiness review can quickly separate real blockers from improvements that can wait.
